The incidence of breast cancer has registered a steep increase in Tamil Nadu in the past decade. It has gone up from 10 per cent in 1990 to 24 per cent in 2011, and to effectively deal with the issue large-scale awareness on causative and curative factors ought to be created, said S.Vijayaraghavan, consultant oncologist, Paterson Cancer Centre, Chennai.
